Girls Talk Organisation
Youth-Led Nonprofit | Gender Equality & Youth Empowerment
Role: Founder & Executive Director
Girls Talk Organisation is a youth-led nonprofit focused on advancing the empowerment, leadership, and wellbeing of girls and young women across The Gambia and the United States through advocacy, education, and community-based programming.
As Founder and Executive Director, I built the organization from the ground up, leading its vision, strategy, governance, partnerships, fundraising, communications, and program development. My role blended executive leadership with hands-on project management, ensuring that programs, campaigns, and partnerships were delivered at scale and with measurable impact.
I led the organization’s full communications and advocacy strategy, shaping its brand positioning, campaign messaging, donor communications, and digital storytelling frameworks. I designed and executed multi-channel campaigns that supported programs in leadership development, digital literacy, mental health, and youth civic engagement, expanding the organization’s reach to over 10,000 girls and young women.
I also secured multi-year partnerships with organizations including UNICEF, USAID, and Freedom House; strengthened donor reporting and impact measurement systems; and built long-term stakeholder engagement structures to support sustainable growth. Through intentional storytelling and campaign strategy, I increased community engagement by 70% and positioned Girls Talk as a leading voice on girls’ rights and youth empowerment.
Key contributions included designing grant proposals and funding strategies, managing cross-functional teams and volunteers, coordinating program delivery across multiple regions, and overseeing all external communications and partnerships.
Through strategic leadership, disciplined execution, and equity-centered storytelling, I transformed Girls Talk from a grassroots idea into a credible, multi-country nonprofit with a strong institutional footprint.
